Mr. Antonio Gioco from 12 Apostoli restaurant (Verona) visit
On Saturday the 2nd of June 2007 we had a pleasant visit from Mr. Antonio Gioco, owner of the 12 Apostoli restaurant, with his family.
The family Gioco own the famous restaurant since the early 900s, while the origins of the antique inn dates back to the XVIII century, when twelve merchants that worked in the Piazza delle Erbe area used to meet for lunch to conclude their business affairs. This is where the restaurant received its name. During the years, many famous people have been frequent clients of the restaurant: Gabriele D'Annunzio, Prince De Curtis (Totò), Josephin Baker, Gino Bartali, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Ingrid Bergman, Maria Callas, Giorgio De Chirico, Greta Garbo, Ernest Hemingway
and the list would be even longer.
