They explored the world in completely different eras and in completely different ways, yet driven by the same impulse: to set off, to observe, to cross new boundaries.
Cesare Gerolimetto, an internationally renowned photojournalist from Vicenza, travelled across continents in the late 1970s aboard his legendary truck.
Nicolò Guarrera, known online as @pieroad, is a young long-distance walker who has just completed a round-the-world journey on foot, pushing his inseparable stroller “Ezio”.
These were the protagonists of an evening dedicated to life-changing adventures that inspire an entire community.
The event took place on 14 November 2025 at Poli Distilleries as part of Spirito d’Impresa, the traditional annual gathering hosted by the Poli family to celebrate the spirit of initiative embodied by the “new Magellans and Pigafettas”: people from Vicenza capable of undertaking extraordinary challenges and carrying the name of our province around the globe.
Gerolimetto’s extraordinary images, collected over years of exploration, allowed the audience to cross continents in a matter of seconds, while Guarrera shared how his steps gained meaning through encounters with people, through the bonds formed along the way, and through the “coefficients of aggregation” - food and beverages that act as social catalysts - which turn every journey into a shared experience.
An event that spoke not only of kilometres, but of vision, determination, and the ability to turn a dream into a course to follow.
