Grappa Tasting

The tasting
ritual

Tasting is not just drinking,
but pausing and listening.

Choose a quiet environment,
a tulip-shaped glass
and make sure your Grappa is at
the right temperature: 10‑13 °C for
young ones like Sarpa di Poli,
18-20 °C for Grappas that have been
aged in underground cellars
like Grappa di Sassicaia.

Observe, smell, sip slowly:
each sip unveils a world of aromas
and emotions.

The 5 steps of tasting

1. Observe the transparency and color
of the spirit against a white background.

2. Swirl the glass: watch the arches
and the speed of the “tears.”

3. Bring the glass to your nose and inhale slowly, letting the aromas evoke memories.

4. Take a small sip without swirling: notice flavors and warmth.

5. Breathe gently with your mouth slightly open, focusing on the lingering aromas.

Pairings
and special moments

A young Grappa like PO' di Poli Morbida pairs beautifully with soft cheeses, while a Grappa like Cleopatra Amarone Oro goes perfectly with dark chocolate.

The true magic happens when tasting and storytelling come together among vinaccia and alembics. Discover how to experience Grappa with all your senses… right where it is born.

THE PERFECT TASTING

Tasting is also about listening: the silence between sips, the sound of the glass on the table, the breath of anticipation. Jacopo Poli shares it in his own way with a tribute to John Cage and his famous “4′33″”.
