La Bodeguita and La Floridita at the Poli Distillery

The mixing history from Havana to Schiavon

All those who work in the mixology field, dream of going to Cuba at least once on their life to savor a well-done mojito in the club where this drink was invented.

For us the dream became real in May 2018. In this occasion two chief barmen came to meet us at the Distillery, from “La Bodeguita del Medio” and “La Floridita”, the two most important cult clubs of Cuba, where both Mojito and Daiquiri were born.

The story tells that Ernest Hemingway made these two beverages famous world-wide, once he moved to Cuba in 1940 to write “The Old Man and the Sea”.

In our way we contributed somehow to make this story’s myth grow, by teaching the wife of Mr. Fernandez (who works as a barman at “La Bodeguita”), to ride a bicycle inside an Italian distillery!
