Tasting with IWM staff, New York - USA

In February 2010 Jacopo Poli guided the staff of IWM (Italian Wine Merchants) in a tasting of Grappas. Jacopo presented an educational session on Grappa and in specific on Poli Distillery.

The previous participants perception of Grappa was to be “firewater”: low cost, low quality and high alcohol content. Jacopo debunked these prejudices. The staff understood, at the end, that  Grappa is something special indeed—artisanal, delicious, complex and about the furthest thing from firewater.

On Tuesday the 16th of February, on the website of IWM appeared an article written by Janice Cable with the reactions to the tasting from four of their staff: Kerry-Jo, a Sales Associate; Christy Canterbury, Wine Acquisitions Director; Tida Lenoel, Junior Wine Portfolio Manager; and Jane Nelson, also Junior Wine Portfolio Manager. Each one of these women brings her own perspective to the experience, but there's no denying that each also came to understand Poli Grappas a bit better and to appreciate them more.

Many thanks to the IWM staff for the warm welcome and for the interesting comments!
