On Friday, June 5, 2026, we welcomed Mr Ragazzon to the distillery. He had expressed the wish to see the lids of the small copper stills he used to make when he was just 14 years old.
At the time, he was working as an apprentice at the Frassinelli company in Susegana. Making a copper lid required more than a week of work: it was a long and meticulous process. It began by cutting a 2 mm-thick copper disc with a punch; the disc was then heated over a flame and gradually hammered along the edges to give it its curve. To shape it correctly, they used a piece of railway track as a base. His task was to hold the red-hot disc and turn it one centimetre at a time, so that his colleague could hammer the edge with a sledgehammer.
That experience sparked his passion for metalworking and, years later, Ragazzon Srl is now carried on by his son Paolo.
This story reminds us that objects preserve the hands and lives of those who created them, transforming a simple visit into a moving journey through time.
